About the event
To all Competition Athletes/Families,
Welcome to another fantastic year of summer sports. We have a huge program this year and our minds have been set to establish a program that grows in Performance, Inclusion and perhaps most importantly, the participation of all ages (Juniors, Youth, Seniors and Masters). Naturally, any increase in numbers and a broadening of member needs, requires greater resources, i.e. Coaches, Team Managers, Officials, Water Safety, Access to Skills training and the upgrade of new and old Equipment.
The 2019/20 Competition Levy seeks to ensure we keep our members and club advancing in 2019/20. The levy is a financial contribution that is required by each athlete and this year has been set at $100 per athlete and $75 for each additional athlete thereafter within a family unit. The slight increase of the levy this year is to cover the rising costs of running the Competition Program. It was a difficult decision to make, but we are confident that families will see the added benefits. This Year we have seen great growth in all areas of competition, especially the transition of Juniors through to Seniors, a growing Masters Team, a rapidly growing R&R Team, Coaching staff, Strength & Conditioning and Equipment (New R&R Reel, More Nipper Boards and Snr Mal Boards).
To ensure we keep advancing in Performance and Participation, we have set some significant goals this year. Amongst these goals was to set Strength and Conditioning Benchmarks for all programs, Adopt a program that delivers mastery in Skills and a greater sense of belonging in our great club. To help deliver these goals, the Competition Sub Committee have developed a range of guidelines, such as Competition Team/Relay Guides for High Performance Carnivals (i.e.State Championships), Sport Team Values & our clubs Code of Conduct developed last year. Please ensure that you read and acknowledge these guidelines durring this registration and adhere to these rules throughout the season. Parents are strongly encouraged to discuss these guidelines with their children. They are designed to ensure everyone knows the rules and we enjoy ourselves. In order to acknowledge the guidelines, you will be asked to tick the box to accept these guidelines to then proceed to payment of the comp levy. If you have a question or are unable to formally acknowledge the guidelines, your competition registration will be temporarily unprocessed and will affect your ability to access further training. Please also ensure you fill in the athletes details, and any other medical/additional needs that may affect the athletes participation/ performance whilst at training or carnivals.
The ALSC Competition team hopes that each athlete will take on the Sporting Values of the club and use them to the best of their ability. We wish you all well in the season ahead. Thank you for joining the best Surf Sports Team in Victoria!
